Rancho Bernardo is classed as an “I-5 Edge City,” with a large concentration of big businesses including Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, and Amazon. Other areas of San Diego are just a short drive away, and the community is also within easy reach of the beach. Rancho Bernardo has numerous parks and trails rising into the surrounding mountains and along the Lake Hodge shoreline, and its vibe is friendly and community-orientated.

Rancho Bernardo Inn is a gorgeous Spanish-style resort with four exquisite dining spaces, while
AVANT offers a forward-thinking fine dining experience, combining seasonal ingredients in creative contemporary Californian dishes and pairing these with limited-production wines and craft cocktails. AVANT also offers cooking classes.
Veranda Fireside Lounge & Restaurant provides a more laid-back dining experience, fusing Mediterranean and Californian cuisine in a relaxed setting with golf course views.
Café Grenada serves Starbucks coffee and fresh baked goods, while
The Bar rounds out the dining options with quick bites and high-quality cocktails.
Rancho Bernardo’s shopping centers include The Plaza, which features specialty retailers, restaurants, fitness centers, and beauty salons.
The Barrel Room at The Plaza is a vintage wine bar and bistro that combines European and American cooking techniques. Bernardo Winery includes an old-world shopping village and wine production and tasting facilities that have been family-run for well over a century.
Bernardo Winery’s farmland features more than 400 olive trees and 2500 grapevines, while its village shops and wine-tasting rooms allow visitors to sample its organic olive oil and outstanding wines. The Kitchen at Bernardo Winery pairs their outstanding wines with rustic Italian cooking. Bernardo Winery also hosts a summer concert series featuring live music performances.

As well as offering several great restaurants, facilities at Rancho Bernardo Inn include award-winning
spa treatments that use avocados and other locally-grown fruits. There is also an

Hiking trails follow
Lake Hodge’s scenic 27-mile shoreline. Boating and fishing are allowed on the lake, which is stocked with fish such as largemouth bass and channel catfish. Green spaces within Rancho Bernardo include
Webb Park, which has tree-shaded picnic areas and a duck pond.
Rancho Bernardo Community Park has a gymnasium, two basketball courts, six tennis courts, and a two-acre off-leash dog park.
Rancho Bernardo Historical Museum is located at the Bernardo Winery and includes exhibits and artifacts tracing the community’s development.
Annual events at Rancho Bernardo include
RB Alive! Street Fair in June, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors and hosts more than 300 arts-and-crafts stalls, food vendors, and a children’s activity zone. Rancho Bernardo Community Park also offers family-friendly outdoor movie screenings during the summer.
